We call it ‘E-distillation’
When we are making gin, we always consider the entire process in great depth with real attention to detail, that is the only way it can be done when looking to create the most perfect and pure end result. When we recently embarked on the adventure of designing and developing our new website, the same principles were put in place. How could we make sure the website, one of our main communications platforms, lived up to the sky-high standards we set when we’re making the gin the website would represent!? Here, we’ve told you how the distillation process of creating our new McQueen Gin website was carried out.
Identifying the need
The first step in the process was the identification of the requirement for the new website. If we want to talk in gin language, consider this the same as identifying the gap in the market, like we did when we first introduced our unique flavour profiles into the world of gin! Our pressing need was to have a website which best-represented who we are as a family, brand and business. We needed the best platform possible to tell people about our gins and the story behind them, from the distillation method used to the best way to drink them. That is what we’ve tried to do with our new website, begin to tell the story of McQueen Gin to the masses.
What to include?
The development of all of our gin products includes vast research, consideration and trial to make sure the end result is exactly what we and our customers are looking for. Of course, we took the same approach to the website. What content should we include? What would be the perfect recipe to create the website we wanted and needed? The full team was involved in the website development process, and we narrowed it down to the key elements that we thought website visitors would value the most:
- The story behind the McQueen Gin brand and products
- Gin inspiration – how to drink it and some of our favourite cocktail ideas
- Where it can be bought
- How to come visit the distillery and see our methods for yourself
Alongside a platform for key McQueen Gin news, we wanted to not overcomplicate things and keep our website simple, giving you the information that you need to enjoy your McQueen Gin experience.
How should it look and sound?
As you all know, we’re big on how things look. Take a look at our bottle, our sophisticated and stylish bottle design has been award-winning in its early life and is something we are very proud of. When designing our website, we wanted the look to be consistent with who we a- re as a brand and what our products represent – not only through the aesthetic, but equally through the way we speak and the messages we communicate to those who visit our website. We like to think of the website as an online personification of the whole McQueen Gin brand. It is where we tell the key messages of what we represent, and it reflects the style and quality of our products through how it looks.
