As the year rolls on the good news keeps rolling in. We’re writing another big event into the McQueen Distillery wall calendar and are delighted to announce that our very own Queen of McQueen Gin, Vicky, has been listed as a finalist for the Scottish Women’s Awards 2019!

It is especially touching to be shortlisted in a category that is very close to our hearts, ‘Family Run Business of the Year’. As a primarily self-taught business person, it is Vicky’s enduring passion and entrepreneurial spirit that has led to her founding and running several successful businesses over the years; from McQueen Foods Ltd where she developed a very successful gluten free range, to McQueen Gin which has so far created jobs for its 15 staff from the local Callander area.

As many of will already know, Vicky co-founded McQueen Gin with husband Dale back in 2015. It all began with a chat over a G&T in the garden and ever since Vicky has been using that same entrepreneurial passion (as well as her other ‘super power’) to help grow our unique range of distilled to be different gins.

Being a trained professional chef with an amazing knack for combining flavours, Vicky has drawn repeatedly on her culinary creativity to come up with many of McQueen Gin’s innovative world-first flavours. Not only that, but we all have her to thank for the countless delicious gin cocktails on our website. (Hope you’ve been enjoying them as much as we have!)

Of course, she doesn’t do any of this to collect awards. Vicky is simply a genuine gin lover with a passion for combining flavours in wonderful ways. She’d be the first to say how lucky she is to get to bring these two parts of her life together each day while working with the family she loves, and that her award nomination is actually due to the hard work every single person at McQueen Gin.

That said, the McQueen Gin adventure truly wouldn’t be the same without Vicky and we all feel this is an honour she fully deserves. So please, join us in keeping our fingers crossed on 28th August and perhaps even pour yourself a McQueen Gin too - just to send her good luck of course!
