Next week brings with it another awards night and while we never get sick of being nominated for awards, this one is particularly special. The new McQueen Gin glass bottle has been nominated for UK Packaging Awards - Glass Pack of the Year 2018.

Those who have known McQueen Gin for a while now will be familiar with our original decanter; a blue-glazed ceramic bottle sealed with wax. It was a big decision for us to move away from this iconic design, but we felt the switch to glass was right for several reasons:

The natural choice
One of the biggest reasons for switching to the McQueen Gin glass bottle was the positive impact on the environment. With our Trossachs Distillery located a stone’s throw away from Scotland’s oldest national park (and named after it), we truly appreciate the nature around us. The new glass design means our bottles are fully recyclable, while the unique embossing of the McQueen logo both saves paper and maintains the iconic look (and feel) of the original McQueen decanter.

Purity you can see
In addition to being environmentally friendly, the McQueen Gin glass bottle is ideally suited to our pure spirits with distilled natural flavours; for gin as clear as the bottle it comes in. More recently, it has also proven to be the perfect bottle for showcasing our Forest Fruits Colour-Changing Gin and newly released Pink Gin. Adding a little flair to ‘Gin O’clock’.

Don’t pay for packaging
Ultimately, we wanted as many people as possible to be able to enjoy our adventurous flavoured gin. However, larger retail listings required production on a larger scale, which is far easier with a recyclable glass bottle. Glass is also far more cost effective. This has meant we’ve been able to bring our gin to the whole of the UK, at an even lower price point than was previously possible in some cases! Making it a win for the country’s environment and gin fans alike.
